A 19-year-old Myrtle Beach man was arrested in connection with a recent burglary attempt in the Pine Lakes area.

Kodi Garrett Pate is charged with two counts of first-degree burglary and is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $75,000 bond, according to jail records.

Pate was arrested Tuesday, and the charges stem from a burglary attempt that happened Friday at a home in the 5600 block of Woodside Avenue in the Pine Lakes area of Myrtle Beach, authorities said.

Officers were called about 1:30 p.m. Sunday after the homeowner reviewed security footage showing two suspects trying to get inside his house about 4:20 a.m. Friday, authorities said.

Police viewed the surveillance footage and said they saw two suspects, holding what appeared to be handguns, walking the perimeter of the 49-year-old victim’s home and checking each door, according to the report.

Footage showed one of the suspects going up to the second level of the home and attempting to open doors. The victim said all the doors were locked during the incident, and the suspects didn’t get inside his home.

Surveillance also showed the suspects leaving the area on foot headed southbound on Woodside Avenue, police said.

No other arrests have been made in connection with this incident, and officers are continuing to investigate it, according to Lt. Joey Crosby, spokesman with the Myrtle Beach police.

Officers had not connected this incident to the recent string of home and car break-ins in the Pine Lakes community by Wednesday afternoon, but the investigation is still ongoing, authorities said.

Myrtle Beach police warned the public about a recent rash of break-ins via social media over the weekend.
