Horry County police are investigating a case of rape in which a woman says she was ambushed, pinned and raped by multiple attackers during a walk along the beach Sunday morning.

A woman at Ocean Lakes Family Campground told Horry County Police she was ambushed, pinned and raped by multiple men when she was out for a walk near the beach early Sunday morning.

On Monday, she recanted her story.

The woman told police she decided to go for a walk along the beach around 5 a.m. and was attacked by multiple men near a beach access at the campground.

During follow-up interviews with detectives, the woman recanted the story, according to Horry County Police Department spokesman Lt. Raul Denis.

He said the police will file a warrant for the arrest of the woman who reported the rape, charging her with filing a false police report of a felony.

Warrants are expected to be filed by Tuesday morning, according to Denis.
