Cab driver reports strong armed robbery attempt and assault

A cab driver reported a strong armed robbery attempt early Saturday morning that happened in an alleyway near Myrtle Beach’s Main Street when he was called to that area to pick up a customer.

The 26-year-old male victim visited the Myrtle Beach Police Department service desk about 1:40 a.m. Saturday and reported the incident, authorities said.

The victim said he was en route to pick up a fare at Farlo’s Burrito Bar at 815 Main Street and said no one was outside when he arrived.

The victim called the customer twice and got out of his cab to explore the area when no one answered. He walked into an alley behind the burrito bar and was approached by two men, police said.

The men told him to give them everything in his pockets and he was hit in the head when he told them no, according to a police report.

The victim hit one of the men before falling to the ground and said the men ran off toward Kings Highway.

Nothing was taken from the victim during the incident, and he told police he didn’t want an investigation.
