Myrtle Beach police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a purse snatching that happened at a hotel Thursday night.

Officers were called about 7:45 p.m. to a hotel at 8400 Costa Verde Drive, near North Ocean Boulevard and 82nd Avenue North, where a 53-year-old woman told police her purse, containing her car keys, credit cards, cellphone, cash, and driver’s license, was taken from her, authorities said.

The victim told police she walking to the entrance of the hotel when a man walked by her and snatched her Michael Kors purse, valued at $400, off her arm and ran, according to the report.

The suspect ran into a parking garage and was last seen leaving through a back exit door. The victim and four witnesses pursued the suspect until they lost sight of him when he disappeared into bushes, police said.

All four witnesses told police they saw the suspect grab the victim’s purse, police said.

Authorities released surveillance photos of the suspect on the Myrtle Beach Police Department Facebook page and said anyone with information on the incident can call 843-918-1382.
