Jesse Eugene Allen, 55, was arrested around noon on New Year's day and charged with arson third degree, disorderly conduct, and domestic violence. He was taken into custody on Mill Pond Road after a fire broke out in the 5600 block of that same street, Friday morning. Horry County Fire Rescue is investigating the fire as possible arson.

Captain Peter Grzymalski, with Horry County Fire Rescue, said Horry County police, who were already on scene, called the fire in around 8:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of Mill Pond Road. By the time fire officials arrived on scene flames could be seen spewing from the home and there was heavy smoke. Officials said about 30 firefighters worked to put out the fire.

The two residents who lived in the home escaped without injuries. The double wide trailer is considered a total loss and American Red Cross is helping the residents.
