MBPD: Victim reportedly attacked by man who goes by Gorilla
When Myrtle Beach police responded to an assault call Tuesday afternoon, they found an injured man severely bleeding from his neck and right foot after allegedly being cut by a suspect who goes by the name “Gorilla,” according to a police report.
Police were called about 5:30 p.m. to a home on the 400th block of Fifth Avenue North and saw a 39-year-old man had a large cut on his neck and was holding a blood-soaked towel to his right foot, authorities said.
The victim removed the towel and police said they saw blood spraying from his foot. Authorities said they tried to get information about what happened, but the victim didn’t want to cooperate.
EMS came and took the victim to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment. While medics were with the victim, police noticed a trail of blood leading from the front of the home where the victim had been and saw occupants of the home trying to clean blood off the front porch and living room area, according to the report.
Police vacated the occupants of the home and did a protective sweep inside. A witness then told officers that her boyfriend, the victim and an unknown suspect were in a “heated exchange of words” in the living room when the suspect allegedly punched the victim in the eye, the report stated.
The fight then moved outside to the backyard and ended in the front yard, and the witness said she wasn’t sure what type of weapon or object may have been used to hurt the victim, police said.
Authorities later met with the victim at the hospital and noted “unknown offender goes by Gorilla” under suspect information in the police report.
More information will be released as soon as it is provided. Please check back for story updates.
