Man charged with soliciting sex from underage girl

A 54-year-old man was arrested after a witness told police he solicited sex from an underage girl on Saturday night.

John Louis Finch of Surfside Beach is charged with criminal solicitation of a minor and was taken into custody about 8 p.m. Saturday, records show.

Officers responded to a hotel at 2611 S. Ocean Blvd. after getting a public assistance call, according to a police report.

When authorities arrived, they spoke with a witness who said Finch had solicited sex from a minor earlier that evening, but no further details were available in the report, police said.

Finch is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $150,000 bond, according to jail records.
