A Myrtle Beach man shot by a downtown businessman after a fight in the back parking lot of the Superblock on Nov. 17 has been charged with third-degree assault and battery.

Jack Isaiah Rabon was charged with assault on Friday after police say an investigation into the shooting revealed Rabon approached and “punched the victim with his fists” before shots were fired.

Shai David “suffered minor bodily injury as a result,” according to Rabon’s arrest warrant.

David, who owns buildings inside the Superblock area bound by Main Street, U.S. 501, Ninth Avenue North and Broadway Street, is accused of shooting Rabon after the fight. Court records show the two had real estate dealings and were embroiled in a legal battle over a piece of land.

David is out on bond awaiting trial on charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon in connection to the shooting.
