Georgetown authorities and Drug Enforcement Unit Agents arrest four during drug investigation
Georgetown police and 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit agents arrested four people on drug charges Friday following a month-long investigation.
A search warrant was executed at a home on the 100th block of Park Street in the Bayview area of Georgetown, and those arrested were: Scott Roach, Marvin Myers Jr., Joshua Bliss, and Crystal Etheridge Leday.
Roach, 31, of Georgetown, who is a convicted felon, was found to be in possession of two loaded handguns (one a large caliber revolver loaded with shotgun shells), along with drugs, Donald J. Tempalsky, Deputy Commander with the DEU said.
He is charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, marijuana and heroin, along with distribution of marijuana, distribution of controlled substances within a half mile of a school or park and two counts of being a felon in possession of a handgun, Tempalsky said.
Police found crack, cocaine, hash, heroin, marijuana, in Myers’ room, authorities said. Myers, 35, of Georgetown, is unemployed, but had several thousand dollars in cash and a rental vehicle, police said.
He is charged with trafficking cocaine, second offense, trafficking crack, second offense, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute heroin, and several instances of possession with intent to distribute or trafficking within a half mile of a park, authorities said.
Both Roach and Myers, who were already out on bond, are convicted felons with previous drug distribution convictions, authorities said.
Agents also discovered more than a pound of marijuana hidden in the home and took a press commonly used to condense drugs into smaller packages, Tempalsky said.
Bliss, 30, of Georgetown, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant from the City of Georgetown, had marijuana, heroin and pills, police said. Agents also found a scale, marijuana, cocaine and packaging material out on the kitchen counter and encountered an underage child in the home while executing the search warrant, authorities said.
Bliss is charged with possession of heroin, marijuana and pills, and Leday, 36, of also of Georgetown, is charged with endangering a child and marijuana possession, according to police.
All four those arrested were taken to the Georgetown County Detention Center, authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected to be filed, police said.
