Pregnant woman reports she was assaulted while walking home
Myrtle Beach police are investigating an assault report.
On Saturday around 1 p.m., police were called to the intersection of 21st Ave N. and Robert Grissom Parkway.
Upon arrival, officers found a pregnant woman crying. The woman told police that she was walking home near that intersection when a man attacked her, according to the police report.
She also told police that she is eight months pregnant.
The victim said that the suspect yelled “Hey you, stop!” She said she stopped and the suspect then knocked her to the ground and attempted to pull her pants off.
According to the report, the man then presented a pocket knife and the victim was able to kick him in the groin and run away.
The victim was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment. Hospital staff told police the baby is doing fine.
The victim describes the suspect as a black male in his late thirties or early forties, clean shaven, about 6’3” and 190lbs.
