Man stabbed over dinner argument while 4-year-old present, woman arrested
A Myrtle Beach woman was arrested after a man was stabbed in the wrist following an argument about dinner, which happened in front of a 4-year-old boy, police said.
Syreeta Angela Brown, 34, is charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and was awaiting a bond hearing at the Myrtle Beach Jail Wednesday morning.
Police were called about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday to an apartment on the 600 block of Third Avenue North, where they found a 63-year-old man with a stab wound and a 4-year-old boy, who told officers “mommy hurt daddy with a big knife,” according to the report.
After EMS dressed the victim’s wound, he told police he argued with Brown because she was drinking and started to make dinner. The victim told her to stop making dinner because she burns the food when she drinks and cooks, and he also said she was coughing on the food, authorities said.
Brown made food for the victim, but he refused to eat it because he said she coughed on it and had been drinking, police said.
He said Brown then went into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and came after him with it. He said he was sitting on the living room couch when he saw her come through the kitchen into the living room and raised her arm with the knife’s blade pointed down toward him, according to the report.
He said he put up his arm to block her, but she stabbed him in the left wrist, authorities said.
The victim said he took their 4-year-old son out of the room and called 911 for help, police said.
