Woman calls police to report stolen purse, arrested for drug possession
A woman who called police to report a stolen purse wound up going to jail for drug possession.
Myrtle Beach police responded to a call at the abandoned Emerald Shores Motel after a woman reported she had awoke to find her purse stolen.
Jamie Bertha Halas, 34, later told police that she had just left the handbag in the room with other people she had been staying with, but offers couldn’t find anyone else in the building.
When the officers informed Halas that the hotel was posted with “No Trespassing” signs and that she had been trespassing on the property, she became very beligirent according to the police report.
Halas began shouting several curse words and would not adhere to commands to quiet down, so she was taken into custody.
Officers found .2 grams of marijuana on her, so she was charged and taken to jail.
