Horry County police are searching for a man who robbed a Conway convenience store and assaulted the 60-year-old clerk.

Officers responded to the Scotchman Convenience Store at 510 Highway 544 in Conway around 6:33 a.m. Wednesday, according to Lt. Raul Denis with Horry County police.

The clerk, a 60-year-old woman, told police the store was robbed by a young, tall and skinny black male, Denis said.

Before leaving the store with an undetermined amount of money, the suspect assaulted the clerk “causing severe injuries that required medical attention,” Denis said.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call police at 843-915-8477.
