Horry County police investigating second shooting on Olive Drive in Green Sea area
Horry County police are investigating after a second shooting occurred in the Green Sea area the day after a 29-year-old man was shot dead there in an unrelated incident, police said.
Officers were called about 8 p.m. Friday to a home on Olive Drive in the Green Sea section of Horry County in reference to a shooting complaint.
A female victim told authorities that when she got home her neighbor told her that her house had been “shot up,” according to a press release from Lt. Raul Denis, spokesman with Horry County police.
Police found bullet holes through the outside of her home and projectiles inside the house, and the shooting is believed to have happened between 2 and 3 p.m. Friday afternoon, authorities said.
No one was injured in this incident unlike the shooting that occurred on the same street the day before that left a 29-year-old man dead, police said.
Kendale Jermain Herring, 29, of Green Sea, was killed in the shooting, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, Hendrick said.
Police were called about 9:30 p.m. to a home on Olive Drive in the Green Sea section of Horry County after the shooting happened, police said.
Officers arrived to find Herring lying at the back of the residence with a blood-soaked towel while Horry County Fire Rescue workers were administrating first aid, but soon after those workers told police they couldn’t find any signs of life and stopped life-saving measures, authorities said.
Authorities quickly learned the alleged shooter had left the scene, and detectives have identified a possible shooter in this case, but charges have not been filed as the investigation is still ongoing, Denis said.
Authorities have no reason to believe the two incidents are connected at this time.
Police are increasing their presence in the Green Sea area in the wake of these two shootings and plan to employ several methods to combat crime in the area, Denis said.
