Crack cocaine investigation ends in two arrested in Georgetown
An investigation by Georgetown authorities and 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit agents into the sales of crack cocaine ended in two arrests Thursday night.
Daniea Kelly, 32, of Georgetown is charged with one count of felon in possession of a firearm, one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine/ cocaine base, and one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine powder, authorities said.
Kelly is also charged with two counts of distribution of crack - second offense and two counts of distribution of crack within a half a mile of a school.
Brent Ladain Shannon, 35, of Georgetown is charged with one count carrying a concealed weapon, one count felon in possession of a firearm, and one count bringing contraband into jail, records show.
Agents obtained four drug distribution arrest warrants for Kelly and found him on Highmarket Street in Georgetown. Kelly is a convicted felon on federal probation for drug and weapons charges and was with Shannon, who is also a convicted felon, Carrie Cuthbertson Weaver, Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said.
Kelly had a loaded 9 millimeter handgun and a quantity of crack cocaine, packaged for sale, along with more powder cocaine when authorities found him, Cuthbertson Weaver said.
Shannon was concealing a .22 caliber pistol when police searched him, authorities said.
Kelly is being held at Georgetown County Detention Center on $40,000 bond.
Shannon is awaiting a bond hearing at Georgetown County Detention Center, jail records show.
