Police investigate after woman’s purse snatched

A 62-year-old woman reported her purse was snatched from her hands as she left a North Kings Highway pharmacy, police said.

The victim said she was leaving CVS at 6617 N. Kings Hwy. Thursday and had her purse in her hands as she unzipped it to put her purchase and change inside. As she walked past a man on his cellphone outside the store, she said the man reached out and grabbed her purse from her hands, authorities said.

Myrtle Beach police were called about 3:45 p.m. to CVS where the victim told them the suspect left the parking lot on foot headed north across 66th Avenue North, police said.

The victim said she lost her wallet, driver’s license, credit cards, debit card, cash, and cellphone — all of which were inside her purse.

A witness told police the suspect ran in front of his car on 66th Avenue North and said he had to hit his brakes to avoid hitting the him.

Another witness told police they followed a speeding car from a nearby restaurant parking lot and stayed behind it as it traveled north on Ocean Boulevard, but lost sight of the car near 79th Avenue North, police said.

Footprints believed to be the suspects were found, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing.
