Update: Fatal hit-and-run victim identified

The driver of a mo-ped is dead after an overnight hit-and-run happened on U.S. 17 in the Little River area, authorities said.

Adolph Fiorilla, 37, of the North Myrtle Beach area was pronounced dead at the crash scene after suffering massive head trauma due to being struck by another vehicle, according to Darris Fowler, deputy coroner with Horry County.

The deadly crash happened about 12:50 a.m. Tuesday at U.S. 17 and Landing Way, according to Cpl. Judd Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Both the mo-ped and an unknown vehicle were traveling north on U.S. 17 when the driver of the unknown vehicle struck the mo-ped, authorities said.

The unknown vehicle then left the scene of the crash, Jones said.

The fatal hit-and-run is still being investigated by the SCHP.
