Surfside Beach police arrest Georgetown man in connection with string of recent thefts
A Georgetown man was arrested in connection with a string of recent burglaries and thefts in the Surfside Beach area Thursday after authorities said he was found allegedly driving a stolen vehicle.
Adam Corbett Morris, 34, is charged by Surfside Beach police with vehicle larceny, burglary, receiving stolen goods, operating a vehicle on the beach, possession of stolen vehicle, reckless driving, failure to stop for blue light and siren, and obtaining goods under false pretense, authorities said.
Surfside Beach Police Department investigators said they found an allegedly stolen vehicle being driven by Morris on South Ocean Boulevard in Surfside Beach, according to a release from Police Chief Rodney Keziah.
Myrtle Beach police officers also assisted in the arrest, and police said Morris was taken into custody without incident.
“This is a prime example of agencies working together to arrest this individual. I commend all officers and agencies involved in this investigation for their dedication and professionalism,” Keziah said in a press release.
Police said some of the charges filed against Morris stem from an incident Monday that involved SBPD officers attempting to stop a burglary suspect who drove onto the beach and then fled on foot from a stolen truck.
Authorities said Morris is also wanted by several other jurisdictions, and further charges are pending.
