Myrtle Beach woman accused of forging multiple business checks arrested
A Myrtle Beach woman accused of forging 17 checks from her employer was arrested Tuesday, and Conway police served her with 17 warrants on Wednesday, authorities said.
Michele Ann Vance, 48, is charged with 21 counts of forgery less than $10,000 and two counts of forgery more than $10,000 and is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center, according to jail records.
The charges stem from an investigation that began after Conway police were called Aug. 28 to BB&T at 310 Wright Blvd. in reference to an alleged forgery, Lt. Selena Small, Conway police spokeswoman said.
Authorities said multiple forgeries were committed from June to August.
The victim, True Value store, reported that an one of their employees had forged multiple checks and issued them to herself. They said she then cashed these checks in her own name, Small said.
During the investigation, authorities said they determined that 17 checks were forged in Conway, and warrants were obtained for Vance’s arrest.
Prior to her arrest, police had been searching for Vance for about two weeks.
Vance’s bond had not been set as of Thursday morning, according to jail records.
