DEU agents and Georgetown authorities arrest 10 in connection with multiple drug charges
Georgetown authorities and agents with the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit arrested 10 people Tuesday on multiple drug charges after finishing a five-month investigation in the Murrells Inlet area, police said.
Authorities acted after getting complaints from residents and investigated street-level sales of heroin, crack and marijuana in a part of the Murrells Inlet area known as the “Hot Road,” according to a press release from Carrie Cuthbertson Weaver, Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
Agents got nine arrest warrants for people in connection with drug-related charges, and also obtained a search warrant for a home in the 4500 block of Old Kings Highway in Murrells Inlet, police said.
During a search at the Old Kings Highway location, agents found “trafficking level quantities” of crack and “distribution levels of marijuana,” along with packaging materials and scales, Cuthbertson Weaver said.
Authorities also said they seized heroin, marijuana, packaging materials and scales in Pawleys Island where they found one of the nine people wanted in connection with drug charges.
Agents also seized $1,400 in cash and impounded two vehicles.
