Two men shot during fight at home near Surfside Beach
Two men were shot early Thursday during a fight near Surfside Beach after a teen girl was hit, authorities said.
Officers were called at 2 a.m. Thursday to 1441 Turkey Ridge Road for a shooting, Horry County police Lt. Raul Denis said. Officers learned two men fought and one of them pulled out a pistol and started shooting.
One man, who was involved in the fight, and another man were shot before the suspect was subdued and held until police arrived, Denis said. Both of the injured men, including one who required surgery, are expected to recover.
Remington Bunting, 31, of North Myrtle Beach, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and was in the Horry County Detention Center waiting for a bond hearing Thursday afternoon.
In the police report, officers noted when they arrived he was on the ground with a 38-year-old Myrtle Beach man on top of him. Several witnesses told officers the man was the suspect and he also had a swollen eye and blood on him.
The man told officers “it was all a misunderstanding,” according to the report. The man who held the suspect down said the suspect came over because they were talking about moving in together and while there the suspect hit on the man’s 17-year-old daughter so the man confronted the suspect.
One man was shot in the shoulder and shin, according to the report. Witnesses corroborated the accounts given by the men involved.
