One arrested after man reports suspect took items from garage and left with his vehicle
A man was arrested after another man reported items from his garage were taken before someone drove off with them in his vehicle, according to a police report.
David James Aleshire, 46, whose hometown was not listed, is charged with second-degree, non-violent burglary and using a vehicle without permission with intent to deprive, according to jail records.
Myrtle Beach officers were called about 10:36 a.m. Monday to a home on the 5600 block of North Kings Highway where a 60-year-old man reported the incident, police said.
The victim said he left his keys in the vehicle and went inside his house. A witness, who also lives at the home, arrived and said they saw a man taking items from the garage and loading them into the victim’s vehicle. The witness ran inside and asked the victim if he knew the man taking things from the garage, authorities said.
The victim and witness then went outside and saw the suspect leaving in the victim’s vehicle, heading southbound on North Kings Highway.
Police said the victim reported his chainsaw, wet-dry vacuum and ladder, all valued at $500, were taken from his garage before the suspect drove away in the victim’s vehicle.
Authorities said most of the victim’s property and vehicle were recovered at a pawn shop on the 1800 block of Mr. Joe White Avenue.
Authorities said they found Aleshire walking on Cherokee Street near Mr. Joe White Avenue.
Aleshire was arrested in connection with the incident and was awaiting a bond hearing at the Myrtle Beach Jail Tuesday morning.
