Two women robbed at gunpoint in Myrtle Beach

Two 20-year-old women told Myrtle Beach police they were robbed at gunpoint while in the parking lot at Broadway at the Beach, according to a police report.

The victims told officers that they were returning to their vehicle at 9 p.m. Sunday when a man armed with a gun approached them and demanded their purses, police said.

The victims gave the robber their pocketbooks and he ran to a nearby vehicle and drove away, according to the report. The victims were in the parking lot near Margaritaville.

A man and woman witnessed the incident and reported that one of the women run up to them yelling they had been robbed, according to the report. The couple also told officers they saw a vehicle leaving the area.

Detectives planned to get surveillance video from the area and are investigating the incident, according to the report. The women reported they had their identifications, wallets, cellphones, cash and other items in their purses.
