Myrtle Beach police searching for third suspect in deadly Collins Street shooting

Myrtle Beach police are searching for a third suspect in connection to a deadly shooting back in August.

Corey Bernard Holmes, 41, of Hanahan, is wanted for murder after the deadly shooting of 23-year-old Dominick Goodwin last month, according to Myrtle Beach police.

Damiean Lamont Cantey, 36, of Forestbrook was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime on Aug. 29.

Cantey is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $100,000 bond on the weapons charge, but bond has not been set on the murder charge, according to jail records.

On Aug. 13, Christopher Columbus White III, 30, of Kingstree was charged with murder in the shooting, police said.

Officers were called about 7:20 p.m. Aug. 10 after Goodwin died of a gunshot he suffered in front of an apartment building on Collins Street, off Broadway Street, authorities said.

White was arrested and Myrtle Beach police said they obtained arrest warrants for Cantey.

In Cantey’s arrest warrant affidavit, officers responded to 607 Collins St., for a shooting and found Goodwin in a grass area across the street from that address. Goodwin had been shot in the head.

A witness told police that “I saw Damiean Canty shoot him,” according to the affidavit. Another witness also told police they saw Cantey standing over Goodwin after a gunshot and then saw him run to a nearby Toyota Camry.

When police arrived on scene, they questioned White, who initially denied any knowledge of the incident, according to warrants in White’s arrest. Police later learned White was injured and concealing his injury with a hat; once confronted by police White removed his hat to reveal several lacerations to his head.

White told police the injuries occurred at a different location but could not state exactly where, police said. Investigators found White had received those injuries at the incident location, “and he hid that information and his injuries from police,” warrants said.

White is also charged with obstructing justice. He remains in J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $10,000 bond for that charge, and his bond in connection with the murder charge has not been set, according to jail records.

Holmes may be in the Hanahan and Charleston area, police said, and he is considered armed and dangerous.
