Conway man charged in June shooting arrested again
A Conway man, who was already facing an attempted murder charge in a June shooting, was arrested Wednesday after his mother reported she suspected he was using drugs, according to an Horry County police report.
Cyrus Simmonds Beard, 21, of Conway, was charged with first-offense possession of controlled substance, threatening the life or family of a public official, and first-offense manufacturing/possession of a scheduled drug, according to records at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Beard already was facing charges of attempted murder, discharging firearms into a dwelling, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and another possession of a controlled substance, according to jail records.
Beard was arrested on those charges on June 4 and involved a gun being fired into a home on Periwinkle Court near Conway, police said.
In Wednesday’s incident, Beard’s mother called police to report that he had been “walking around in a daze” for the previous days, according to the report. An officer found Beard sleeping in his room and also found prescription pills that did not belong to Beard and 46 grams of marijuana.
Beard was arrested and while being taken to the jail he threatened the officer by saying “I hope you get shot in the eye; a bullet in the head is too good for you; I’m gonna see that you feel it,” according to the report.
Beard was being held without bond pending a hearing, according to jail records. He had previously been released on $15,000 bail in the shooting incident.
