Conway police break up fight in parking lot; man arrested on gun and drug charges
Conway police broke up an argument among a group of men in a grocery store parking lot involving drugs and a gun Saturday afternoon, and one man was arrested in connection with weapons and drug charges, police said.
David A. Domagala, 37, of Conway, is charged with pointing and presenting firearms at a person, unlawful carrying of a pistol, simple possession of marijuana, and drinking in public, authorities said.
Domagala was arrested Saturday and was released Sunday from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $15,807 bail, according to jail records.
Police arrived about 12:19 p.m. at the Food Lion parking lot at 2608 Main St. in Conway and said they broke up a fight among Domagala and three other men.
A 28-year-old man, who police noted as a victim in the report, told them Domagala came up to him and asked if he could buy marijuana from him, authorities said.
The victim said he told Domagala that he didn’t sell drugs or know where to get them and told Domagala to get away from him, and an argument then broke out, police said.
The victim said Domagala pulled a knife out and threatened him with it, and the victim told him he wasn’t afraid of him, so the victim said Domagala went to his Ford pickup truck and got a gun out, according to the report.
The victim said Domagala started waving the gun at him then put the gun in the waistband of his pants, authorities said.
Police said it was at that time that they came on the scene and defused the situation.
Authorities said Domagala told them he did in fact approach the victim about buying drugs and got intimidated by the three men when a fight broke out among them and got his gun out of his truck.
Police said Domagala told them he had been drinking earlier that day, and said they found marijuana in a cigarette pack Domagala had in his truck.
