Police get conflicting stories during domestic violence report, couple arrested

Missing a shoe and wearing a torn shirt, a man went to the Myrtle Beach Police Station and reported that he was assaulted while he and his fiancée fought over infidelity issues, authorities said.

Both parties were arrested in connection with domestic violence early Friday morning after authorities investigated but got conflicting accounts of what happened, according to a police report.

Bradley Joseph Vaughn, 40, whose hometown was not listed, is charged with first-degree domestic violence, great bodily harm, and he was being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail awaiting a bond hearing on Friday morning.

Noelle Dawn Abbott, 28, whose hometown was not listed, is charged with third-degree domestic violence and was also being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail awaiting a bond hearing on Friday morning.

Police said Vaughn came to the station at 1101 N. Oak St. about 1:30 a.m. Friday to report that he was assaulted by Abbott.

Authorities said Vaughn looked like he had been involved in a struggle and his right hand was bleeding and his pinky finger was swollen and bruised.

Vaughn said the couple had been drinking at a South Kings Highway bar when Abbott left and began sending him text messages accusing him of cheating on her, police said.

Vaughn said he went back to the motel room on the 400th block of 14th Avenue South where they were staying, and Abbott confronted him, authorities said. Vaughn said Abbott then attacked him, pulling on his shirt, biting his thumb and injuring his pinky, police said.

Vaughn also told police that Abbott hit herself with his shoe and ripped her own shirt, according to the report. When police went to the motel, Abbott had barricaded the door with a television stand and chair.

Authorities said Abbott had some injuries, and she told police they fought after returning from drinking at a bar.

Abbott said she was slapped in the ear, thrown on the bed, strangled, punched in the face and slapped multiple times, but police said they did not see signs of strangulation, according to the report.

Both were arrested since they each had injuries, police said.
