Conway police investigate after another car break-in on Rosehaven Drive, rash of break-ins reported last month
A laptop stolen from a car on Rosehaven Drive in Conway is the latest theft in a rash of mainly car break-ins in the area over the last month.
Someone entered the victim’s unlocked car in the 1000 block of Rosehaven, off U.S. 701, between 2 and 6 p.m. Sunday and took a computer valuled at $700, according to the incident report.
Authorities said they were unable to look for latent prints because of the weather at the time.
This auto burglary follows a series of car break-ins and one building break-in on Rosehaven Drive and another nearby street from Aug. 8 to Aug. 10, according to police reports.
The break-ins occurred in the same area but investigators don’t know yet if they are connected, according to Conway police Lt. Selena Small.
Multiple victims reported their cars were rummaged through and items including a loaded 9 millimeter Taurus handgun, clothes, sunglasses, a vehicle registration, CDs, and other miscellaneous things were taken.
Police said one of the victims also said buildings he owned in the area were burglarized and items valued at a total of $1,500 were stolen.
Authorities said that there were no signs of forced entry at most of the incidents, but one person reported seeing a large brick-shaped mark on the front passenger-side window of his car, according to a police report.
One resident said he noticed a white truck leaving the area about 4:45 a.m. Aug. 9 as he was going to work. When he arrived at work, he noticed the brick mark on his car and was later told that his son had found a large brick in the front yard, authorities said.
Keys were taken from another man’s car on Aug. 9, according to reports. A neighbor later found them lying in the road near his home.
Another man reported Sunday his car was broken into after he forgot to close his garage door the night before on Rambling Rose Lane, just off of Rosehaven Drive. He told police nothing appeared to have been taken, but he could tell someone had been through his things inside the car, according to the report.
Authorities said they found three latent fingerprints from the front passenger door of the car broken into on Rambling Rose Lane, and four latent fingerprints were discovered on one of the cars broken into on Rosehaven Drive, police said.
