Conway man arrested in connection with attempted murder
A man was arrested in connection with attempted murder and weapons charges after police said he tried to hit another man with his vehicle and fired a gun at him several times, according to arrest warrants.
Anthony Dwayne Grant, 52, of Conway was charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, in addition to the attempted murder charge, warrants show.
Grant was arrested on Monday and released from the J. Reuben Detention Center on Tuesday on $40,000 bond, according to jail records.
Authorities said an altercation erupted between Grant and another man at Live Oak Street and Leonard Avenue in Conway on Monday. Grant attempted to strike the victim with his vehicle and then pulled out a .45 caliber semiautomatic handgun and fired several rounds at the victim, according to arrest warrants.
Authorities said they found Grant at Rose Hill Cemetery in Conway, and recovered a .45 caliber handgun from his vehicle.
