Police find victim covered in blood and candle wax after assault
Police found a victim coated in blood and candle wax when they responded to a call about an assault early Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Myrtle Beach officers were called about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday to an apartment building on the 600 block of 37th Avenue North where a 27-year-old woman reported the incident, according to a police report.
Travis Len Davis, 28, whose hometown was not listed, is charged with third-degree domestic violence, and was being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail awaiting a bond hearing on Tuesday morning, jail records show.
Police said when they arrived they found the victim in a neighboring apartment from where the alleged assault happened.
Authorities said they followed a trial of blood leading next door and found a candle in a glass jar that had blood on it and determined the victim was struck with the candle.
The victim had a cut above her left eye which police said seemed to be the source of all the blood and pictures were taken of the victim, who went to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment, police said.
Police said Davis was determined to be the main aggressor in the incident and took him to the Myrtle Beach Jail.
