Man tased, charged with trespassing and loitering for prostitution
Myrtle Beach police said they had to use force, including a taser, early Friday when investigating an assault and arresting a man in connection with trespassing and loitering for prostitution, according to an incident report.
Emmitt Louis Ware, 44, whose hometown was not listed, is charged with resisting arrest in addition to the trespassing and loitering for the purposes of prostitution charges.
Ware was being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail later Friday morning on $993 bond for the charges, according to jail records.
Police said they were called about on the 400th block of Fifth Avenue North about 12:40 a.m. to investigate the assault of a 31-year-old woman and were told by dispatchers the suspect had a knife, according to the report.
Authorities said they saw a man matching the suspect description when they arrived, and repeatedly told him to put his hands behind his head. When he didn’t comply and started moving, a taser was used, and the man was placed in handcuffs, police said.
A witness told police Ware had pushed a woman before they arrived. The victim told police that she didn’t know Ware, and that he had pushed her in an attempt to make her go downstairs after she refused his offer of $20 in exchange for a sexual act, authorities said. Police said the victim did not want to press assault charges.
