Update: Suspect wanted in connection with woman stabbed in neck over beer arrested
The manhunt for an attempted murder suspect ended on Wednesday after police found and arrested Chad Allen Chestnut in connection with a 30-year-old woman stabbed in the neck over a beer, authorities said.
Chestnut, 40, of Myrtle Beach is charged with attempted murder and is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, where he is awaiting a bond hearing, jail records show.
“We sincerely thank everyone for spreading the word and helping us catch a dangerous man,” Lt. Raul Denis, spokesman with Horry County police, said after Chestnut was taken into police custody.
Officers were called about 11 p.m. Tuesday to a home on the 300th block of Piedmont Avenue in Myrtle Beach in the case connected to Chestnut’s arrest and said the victim was covered in a “large amount of blood,” when they arrived, according to a police report.
The victim said she told Chestnut he could have the last beer, and he then attacked her. The victim said he threw her on the ground and began choking her before stabbing her in the neck with a knife, causing a life-threatening injury, Denis said.
The victim also told police she is four months pregnant, authorities said.
The victim was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center for treatment for a large cut on her neck and is expected to recover, Denis said.
Denis said Horry County officers were assisted by Myrtle Beach police and a tracking dog and handler from Surfside Beach police in looking for Chestnut, but did not find him on Tuesday.
