Pizza delivery man reports being robbed on the job

A 46-year-old pizza delivery man told police he was robbed of cash at gunpoint while working after receiving an order from someone at a Myrtle Beach apartment building, authorities said.

The victim also told police the armed suspect took his debit card, social security card, driver’s license, and cellphone and forced the victim back into his car before leaving the area, according to a police report.

Myrtle Beach police were called about 2:12 a.m. Wednesday to a pizza restaurant at 5335 N. Kings Hwy. where the victim reported the alleged robbery happened at an apartment building on the 600th block of 19th Avenue North after he got a call from a woman from an out-of-state phone number, police said.

The victim said he was looking for the right apartment after arriving, when he felt someone pull on the back of his shirt and try to pull him to the ground. The victim said he then felt a gun on the back of his neck and was ordered to get on the ground by a man and to hand over his money, authorities said.

The victim said he gave the suspect $20, and the suspect told him he better have more money than that or he would be killed, according to the report.

The victim said he then gave the suspect about $250 cash, and the suspect ordered the victim to walk back to his car and get inside.

Once the victim said he did this, the victim said the suspect ordered him to throw the keys out of the window then get in the backseat and lie down on the floorboard. The victim told the suspect he couldn’t lie down in the floor and said the suspect was pointing a gun at him while giving him orders, authorities said.

The victim said everything was quiet for a while, and he noticed the suspect left the area, so he left and called police.

Arrests had not yet been made later Wednesday morning, and the investigation is ongoing.
