Update: Two arrested in connection with weekend armed robbery
Myrtle Beach police arrested two men in connection with armed robbery on Tuesday after a 20-year-old man told police he was robbed at gunpoint, punched, and pushed out of a car after $300 was taken from him, authorities said.
Trevor Micheal Brown, 17, of Surfside Beach, and Jacob Lee Jernigan, 17, of Myrtle Beach are both charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to jail records.
Both men were being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Thursday morning on $17,500 bond each, records show.
Myrtle Beach officers were called about 8 a.m. Monday to the victim’s home after the armed robbery allegedly happened about 6 p.m. Sunday, police said.
The victim told police he called one suspect to come pick him up from a gas station at 1405 S. Kings Hwy. and give him a ride home. The victim said the suspect showed up with three other men in a black Kia sports utility vehicle, police said.
The victim said the men were driving down Kings Highway when one of them pointed a gun at the victim and demanded everything he had, according to the report.
The victim told police the suspect, who he originally called, then punched him in the face and demanded he give them what he had, authorities said.
The victim said he gave the men $300 cash as the SUV pulled back into the gas station at 1405 S. Kings Hwy where the victim had been picked up from, police said.
The victim said he was pushed from the SUV as he was trying to get out, and the SUV then left the area, authorities said.
The victim told police he hesitated to call them because he was scared of the alleged robbers.
