Murrells Inlet man charged with murder in Aynor woman’s disappearance cancels court appearance
A 48-year-old Murrells Inlet man charged with murder in the death of a 32-year-old woman will not appear in court Tuesday in Georgetown County, officials said.
Randy Gale Robinson, who has been jailed since being arrested March 6, 2014, was set to appear in a Georgetown County courtroom before Circuit Court Judge Steven John, 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson said Monday.
That hearing was canceled Monday afternoon, Richardson said. He said he could not confirm the nature of the hearing.
Robinson was charged with murder and obstructing justice in the death of Angie Pipkin, who was reported missing Jan. 16, 2014 after she was last seen at a grocery store in Aynor.
Robinson has been held without bond on the murder charge and a $5,000 bond on the obstruction charge, according to records at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
The obstruction charge was filed against Robinson in connection with authorities saying on Jan. 26, 2014, he provided false, misleading or inaccurate information about Pipkin’s disappearance and his activities during the evening hours of Jan. 16, 2014, police said.
Pipkin’s remains were found in May 2014 in Florence County in some woods at a private hunting camp about five miles south of the U.S. 76 bridge over the Great Pee Dee River.
Pipkin was reported missing by her mother, who told police that Pipkin's father took her to the IGA in Aynor to meet with a friend. Robinson is listed in the original police report, but it is not clear if he was the friend Pipkin was planning to meet.
The friend told police he had not seen or spoken with Pipkin because she damaged his truck several weeks earlier, the report said.
