Registered nurse accused of stealing drugs from patients at Horry County hospital
An Horry County nurse who allegedly stole drugs from a patient at Grand Strand Medical Center was arrested Monday.
The South Carolina Department of Public Health arrested 55-year-old William Henry Henderson on several charges of theft of controlled substances and violating drug distribution law.
Henderson, who worked as a registered nurse at Grand Strand Medical Center, allegedly stole opioid drugs on several instances between January and April 2026 under the guise of providing them to patients, according to an arrest warrant.
On six separate occasions, Henderson stole opioids, including oxycodone, hydromorphone and fentanyl, while working and then either failed to document him taking them or fraudulently documented them as being administered to a patient.
After posting a $12,000 bail, Henderson was released from J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Tuesday afternoon.
