CCU basketball player distributed sexual content of minor, sheriff’s office says

A former Coastal Carolina University basketball player is facing 20 charges, accused of the sexual exploitation of minors after investigators searched his phone.
Nadjrick Peat, 25, has been charged with six counts of first-degree exploitation of a minor, eight counts of second-degree exploitation of a minor and six counts of third-degree exploitation of a minor, according to a news release from the Horry County Sheriff’s Office.
Peat was one of two CCU basketball players arrested by Conway Police on March 24 for criminal sexual conduct.
He and fellow teammate Joshua Beadle, 23, were arrested after the two men were accused of having sexual intercourse with a woman while she was in an intoxicated and incapacitated condition, The Sun News previously reported.
Beadle, from Columbia, was a guard for CCU during the 2025-26 season. Peat, from Alexandria, Jamaica, was a forward/center for the team.
Both men are listed as graduate students on the CCU roster. The university confirmed that the two men are current students.
Upon further examination of Peat’s phone, investigators with The Horry County Sheriff’s Office found “multiple files depicting a minor engaged in a sexual activity.” The files had been distributed using WhatsApp and iMessage, according to the release.
Peat also faces one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of disseminating obscene material to a person under the age of 18.
