A Horry County man was arrested in Georgetown County Thursday afternoon after he was accused of sex trafficking a minor.

Wade Jacob Curry, 19, was charged with trafficking a person under the age of 18 and sexual conduct with a minor.

The victim, according to a news release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, told investigators that Curry would meet her at a grocery store in Pawleys Island in a white work van and “have sex with her in a beach access parking lot.”

Curry allegedly also gave the accuser vapes which she would then sell at school, giving some of the money back to him. The minor’s mom told officers that her daughter had previously said that she “does not enjoy the sex, and she only does it for vapes or alcohol,” according to an incident report.

The mom also told officers that Curry and her daughter would go around Pawleys Island, Surfside Beach, Myrtle Beach and Horry County to have sex. The mom believes her daughter was being coerced into sexual activity, according to the report. Curry lives in Myrtle Beach, according to a warrant from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers brought Curry in where the victim “positively identified” him in a lineup. Warrants for Curry’s arrest and a search of his home were obtained, according to the release.

There’s evidence that similar crimes may have happened against other minors, but it’s unclear how many, Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Heather Pelham told The Sun News.
