Conway man breaks into home, ties up teen in armed robbery. He’ll now go to prison
A Conway man was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Wednesday after pleading guilty to an armed home invasion where he tied up and assaulted a teenager.
Alegandro Luis Diaz, 22, was charged with first-degree burglary and kidnapping. His trial was scheduled to take place next month.
According to a release from the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Diaz invaded a home with three other people — Hancel Alverado, Jamiah Franklin and Megan De La Cruz — on Feb. 14, 2025. Diaz entered the home armed with a gun and tied up, assaulted and threatened a teenager, who was home alone.
Diaz led the three other people to ransack the home, stealing thousands of dollars in jewelry, clothing, firearms and other items of value, according to the release.
De La Cruz also pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and was sentenced to 15 years in prison suspended to five years’ probation. Cases against Franklin and Alverado, who was deported when he was released on bond, are still pending.
