Myrtle Beach woman admits to hotel armed robbery where a man was shot
A woman involved in shooting a man during a robbery of a hotel employee last year pleaded guilty to her charges – nearly two months after her partner also pled guilty.
Brittany Dawn Hunter, 33, of Myrtle Beach, pleaded guilty Monday to armed robbery, according to a release from the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Hunter entered her plea before her trial which was set to begin May 18.
Hunter was sentenced to 10 years in prison, the release said.
Hunter was charged in an incident that occurred on Jan. 20, 2025, when Horry County Police were called to the Sleep Inn hotel in Myrtle Beach for gunshots fired during an armed robbery, the release said. The victim of the robbery, who also worked at the hotel, told police that Hunter and co-defendant, David Mills, had been staying at the hotel but were kicked out.
Hunter and Mills waited behind the hotel until the employee took her break. When she walked out the rear hotel door, Hunter and Mills walked up to her, pointed a gun at her and demanded cash and her cell phone. A male contractor walked out the back door of the hotel during the robbery and tried to calm the situation, which allowed the employee to run back into the hotel.
Mills then fired a gunshot into the back door of the hotel at the employee while the contractor ran to his vehicle. Mills followed the man to his truck and shot a 9-mm round into the rear truck window, which struck the man in the shoulder. Hunter and Mills left the area and were captured in New York by the U.S. Marshals.
Mills pleaded guilty in February and was sentenced to a 20-year prison sentence for armed robbery and attempted murder in the same case.
