UPDATE: Rhode Island man charged in stabbing at Myrtle Beach laundromat, police say
Myrtle Beach Police have charged a Rhode Island man in a stabbing that took place Wednesday night at a city laundromat.
Garry Everett Arnold Jr., 37, of Coventry, was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force and was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Officers responded at 10:10 p.m. to a business in the 1100 block of 3rd Ave. South in reference to a reported stabbing, according to a Myrtle Beach Police Facebook post. It appears that it occurred at the Lane Mega Laundry, 1109 3rd Ave. S, according to a text from Myrtle Beach Police spokesperson Randolph Angotti.
When officers arrived, they found a person with serious injuries. The other person involved fled the scene, the post said.
Officers provided lifesaving measures to the victim until EMS arrived. The victim was then transported to a local hospital, the post said.
Through the investigation, including information provided by a witness and the use of investigative tools, officers were able to quickly identify the suspect, obtain arrest warrants and find the suspect’s location.
Myrtle Beach Police continue to investigate.
