New York man stabs another during argument in Myrtle Beach area, police say

File

A New York man was arrested for attempted murder after allegedly stabbing and biting another man.

Zachary Wilson Meade, 35, was charged Monday with attempted murder and possession of a deadly weapon during a violent crime.

Horry County Police responded to what appears to be the parking lot of a gas station on Burcale Road in the Myrtle Beach area on March 29, 2026, to a report of a stabbing. When the officer arrived, he found Meade walking away from a black school bus with his hands in the air, appearing to have a large amount of blood staining his shirt and on his arms and face, the incident report said.

Meade said he was attacked by another man and he stabbed him. The two men apparently got into an argument.

The officer found the second man, whose name was not released, on the passenger side of the bus, lying on the pavement with his head resting on the bottom step of the bus. The man had multiple lacerations to his face and at least two others to his chest and abdomen. He was awake and semi-conscious, however, he was not verbal and appeared to be labored in his breath, the report said. Police were not able to locate a knife or sharp-edged object near the man’s body.

Meade told officers that the second man was drunk and began to assault him. He defended himself by stabbing him. Meade had a stab wound to his back, as well as a bite mark to his inner thigh.

Both men were transported to the hospital.

Meade’s dogs also ran away during the incident and were later found, the report said.

Meade was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on March 30 where he remained without bail Tuesday morning.
