Rapper arrested in Horry County. His hit reached top Billboard chart. What we know
The rapper Desiigner, known for such hits as “Panda” and “Timmy Turner,” was arrested Monday in Horry County on domestic violence charges.
The 28-year-old, whose real name is Sidney Royel Selby III, was arrested on the charge by Horry County Police and booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Monday. He was released the next day on a $1,500 bond.
It appears that the incident occurred earlier this month between Selby and the mother of his child in the Conway area, according to TMZ.
According to a police report, Selby came home angry and was yelling, throwing the car keys on the counter. The female victim, who lives with Selby, then took the car keys to leave, but Selby allegedly ripped the keys out of the woman’s sweatpants. Selby then went upstairs, took their child and put the child in the car seat, the report said.
The woman attempted to talk with Selby, but he threw her to the ground by the front door of the residence, the report said. Selby was not at the residence when officers arrived.
The victim had minor scratches on her arm and lower back that were bleeding, the report said.
The incident occurred on March 2 on Arbor Ridge Circle in Conway.
TMZ also reported that Selby had been arrested in 2023 on charges of indecent exposure after an incident on an international flight returning to the U.S.
Desiigner is best known for his 2015 hit “Panda,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100.
