Conway day care worker accused of shoving child to ground for playing in yogurt
A Conway child care worker has been arrested after allegedly slinging a child to the ground for playing in yogurt.
Alyssa Marie Morlang, 22, was charged by Conway Police for cruelty to children in the incident.
Officers were called to Mercy Baptist Child Development Center, 2805 Fourth Avenue, on Feb. 25 for reports of an employee throwing a child down. After reviewing video at the center, the center fired the employee and police charged Morlang, according to an incident report.
Police talked to a witness who said that Morlang became upset with the child who was playing with yogurt outside. When the child wouldn’t stop, Morlang allegedly grabbed the child by the arm and then slung her to the ground, the report said. Another teacher stepped in and told Morlang to stop, the report said.
The video showed that Morlang grabbed the victim by the arm and pushed her, causing her to fall face first to the ground off a lifted deck area, an arrest warrant said.
Morlang was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Feb. 27 where she was released on a $2,000 bond.
