A Florida man, upset over a road rage incident, allegedly stabbed another driver multiple times after following him to the Conway area.

Ryan Alexander Fertel, 49, of Atlantic Beach, was charged with attempted murder on Feb. 27, 2026, by Horry County Police.

Fertel is accused of following the person in his vehicle to a home on Poinsetta Drive after a nearby road rage incident on Highway 544, according to an arrest warrant. After confronting the driver, Fertel got into a physical altercation with the person and then apparently stabbed the victim in the torso and arm pit area.

It is not clear what occurred during the road rage incident.

Police responded to the area about 7:35 p.m. where they found the victim with multiple stab wounds lying in the front yard, an incident report said. Fertel was found sitting in the driver seat of his vehicle, the report said.

Fertel was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center where he was released Feb. 28 on a $50,000 bond.
