Man shot, escapes to laundry mat in Horry County and then later arrested in case
A man who was shot and then escaped to a laundry mat, was later arrested for domestic violence, police say.
Officers discovered one person injured with a gunshot wound when they responded to the scene of a shooting in Atlantic Beach Monday night.
Horry County Police responded to reports of a shooting in progress with a victim at 7:38 p.m. at the Atlantic Beach Laundry Mat located at 609 31st Ave. South. When they arrived, officers found one person on the floor with an apparent gunshot wound in his upper left thigh, according to the incident report.
The injured person told officers he did not see the shooter, know the shooter or know what they were wearing, the report states. He said that he was shot and then ran into the laundry mat before exiting.
Officers discovered a spent 9mm casing next to the injured individual, as well as an unused 9mm round and a 9mm projectile that was found inside the laundry mat.
One victim returned to the crime scene to provide a verbal statement about the incident, according to the report. Officers determined that the injured individual was a suspect in the case, and also determined probable cause.
The injured man was arrested for domestic violence first degree, with the aggravating factor being strangulation, the report states. The man’s name has not been released.
The Sun News has also requested the arrest warrant associated with the incident.
