Horry County man arrested for filming sexual acts without permission for 2 years

An Horry County man was arrested after sharing pornographic materials obtained by filming and photographing someone for nearly two years without their permission, police records show.

Steven Guthoff, 63, was arrested Friday on a voyeurism charge, after officers were notified of an ongoing voyeurism incident from July 2022 to April 2024. Guthoff is accused of filming and photographing the victim while undressed and engaged in sexual acts in the victim’s home on Moulton Drive in the Longs area, his arrest warrant states.

The photos and videos were taken without the victim’s consent, and then shared on various online and social media platforms, according to the arrest warrant.

It is unclear how, or if, the victim and Guthoff knew one another.

The victim told officers they have reason to believe that Guthoff filmed them during sexual acts, and was disseminating the materials without their knowledge or permission, according to the incident report.

The victim also reported a fear of retribution if Guthoff discovered that they had reported his actions to law enforcement, the incident report states.

Guthoff remains incarcerated at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bail, online arrest records show.
