The man associated with a Myrtle Beach barricade situation was charged with attempted murder after barging in on sleeping victims and calling them “witches,” police reports say.

A man charged with attempted murder after barricading himself in a Myrtle Beach home Friday entered the residence and called the residents “witches,” according to police reports.

Eric Bostic, 36, was taken into custody following a police standoff at the home located at 1504 Highway 15 Lot 1 off Harrelson Boulevard, according to a police release posted to Facebook. He was charged with seven counts of attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault and one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

During the standoff, he shot at seven Myrtle Beach Police officers, and multiple shell casings were found inside and outside the residence, according to Bostic’s arrest warrants. The shooting was captured on multiple audio and video recording devices, the warrants state.

Bostic remains at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bond, except for a $5,000 bond on the possession of a weapon charge.

Two victims shared with the police that Bostic entered the home and started yelling at them while they slept, according to the police report. They said Bostic kept telling them to leave the home even though they were residents, and calling them witches.

The victims said Bostic was holding a knife as if he was going to strike them with it while demanding that they leave. The victims then exited the residence and called the police.

After arrival, police heard gunshots from inside the home, after which a perimeter was set up around the home.

The police department confirmed at 1:18 p.m. on Friday that one person was in custody and the residence was secure.
