A Conway woman was arrested after allegedly co-sleeping with an infant while intoxicated, causing the child to die.

Carlie Marie Swann, 33, was charged Oct. 16, 2025, with unlawful conduct toward a child by South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, according to a release sent Friday.

Renee Wunderlich, spokesperson for SLED, confirmed that the child died. Wunderlich said that SLED’s Special Victims Unit investigates all deaths in the state involving children under the age of 18, which is mandated by state law.

Swann is accused of consuming “copious” amounts of alcohol prior to sleeping with the infant on Aug. 25, 2025, an arrest warrant said.

A toxicology report revealed Swann had a blood alcohol level of .131%, the warrant said.

The age or name of the child has not been released. It is also unclear what relationship Swann has to the child.

Horry County Police assisted in the investigation.

Swann remains in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $40,000 bond.
