Horry high school employee accused of assaulting special education student

MyrtleBeach

A Socastee High School special education aide has been arrested for an alleged incident involving a child at the school.

Patrick Fischer, 40, was arrested by Horry County Police on Oct. 7, 2025, and charged with unlawful conduct toward and child and third-degree assault and battery, according to online booking records.

Fischer is listed as an aide on the school’s website.

The Myrtle Beach man, a paraprofessional at the high school, was arrested by HCPD in connection with an event that allegedly occurred earlier that school day, according to an email from Horry County Schools spokesperson Lisa Bourcier.

School administration contacted law enforcement and immediately reported the incident, she said.

Fischer has been placed on administrative leave, and the incident remains under investigation, Bourcier said. Fischer has been a paraprofessional with Horry County Schools since 2022.

Fischer approached the special needs student in an auxiliary gym at the school in order to get the student to stop hitting a volleyball net, an arrest warrant states. Fischer placed his hands on the victim, which then caused him to seize up and place his hands in a “non-violent manner” on Fischer. Fischer then can be seen on security cameras forcefully twist and push the student to the ground, causing him to injury his elbow, the warrant states.

Fischer was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center where he was released after posting a $1,500 bond.
